Don’t have time to attend a workshop? Check out notes from this session:
1. There are four different futures scenarios: The Ostrich, the Lame Duck, the Flamingo, and the Icarus. The Ostrich is a type of project which has high financial aims but does not notice wider context. The Lame Duck is a type of project which stays in the idea phase and does not move into implementation. The Flamingo is a type of project which has a good balance between fundamental social change and sustainability. The Icarus is a type of project with a lot of momentum in the beginning, which gets going too quickly and dies out.
2. The Triple Helix signifies three streams that we must weave together: our own story, the story of our idea, and the story of the community we affect.
3. The people you decide to include in your project are very important: they must keep their motivation and incentives, while feeling they are passionate and making a difference. They can have external and internal motivations.

Memorable Quotes:
“Knowledge is three things: memory, reason, and imagination”
“There are extrinsic and intrinsic motivations to every project”
“We all have a desire to know what is going on and to be known by other people”
