- En route to Sur and Wahiba, Oman – A man walks past a wall containing sayings that invoke the power of God.
- Tokyo, Japan – The Kabukicho district in Shinjuku, a major commercial and administrative center, marks the well-known entertainment and red-light district of Tokyo.
- Mexico City, Mexico – A young man stands in protest at the center of a Mexican flag during the presidential election fraud campaigns of 2006.
- Jerusalem, Israel – Former Sudanese slave, champion long-distance swimmer, and human rights advocate Simon Deng delivers a speech from atop a hill near the Mount Scopus campus of The Hebrew University. Deng highlighted his experiences in an effort to educate the world about the ongoing injustices in Sudan and inspire change.

Beau Garrett is a junior studying Environmental Engineering and Architectural Engineering and Design, with a minor in Spanish. He is currently studying abroad in Santiago, Chile and has been documenting his experience with many photos and words through the195.com, Northwestern's student-run blog site. Other than photography, Beau enjoys singing a cappella, watching movies and sports, and playing golf. His photos that OpenShutter selected to display last year were snapped in Xi'an, China and Tokyo, Japan. He would love to contribute more and help support the mission of OpenShutter in his remaining two years at NU.
